Sun on Both Sides: Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar Opens at £649.90 as First Dual-Sided Solar AMOLED Watch

Amazfit opens orders for the T-Rex Dual Solar at £649.90, pitching the first AMOLED watch that charges from solar panels on both the display and the back.

MILPITAS - Amazfit has opened orders for the T-Rex Dual Solar, a premium expedition smartwatch the company says is the first AMOLED model with dual-sided solar charging through both the display and a glass-ceramic back plate, according to Amazfit’s official launch materials dated Sept. 22, 2026.

UK pricing is £649.90 on Amazfit.com and Amazon. U.S. list is $649.99. The watch began taking orders on the autumnal equinox. Amazfit frames the dual solar system as a way to stretch battery life off-grid and, in a depleted state, recover enough charge from sunlight to restore essentials such as maps and route data.

Front solar collects energy while the watch is worn in strong light. Amazfit’s typical-use testing says three hours a day at 50,000 lux can extend battery life from up to 25 days to up to 34 days. Rear solar sits in a larger panel on the glass-ceramic back, with about twice the collection area of the front. Solar Priority Mode drops the watch into an ultra-low-power state to maximize off-wrist recovery.

Sara Webster Wylie, Amazfit’s vice president of global marketing, said in the release that outdoor watches need everyday polish and expedition endurance, and that pairing AMOLED with solar was meant to avoid forcing buyers to choose one or the other.

Hardware targets rough use. Specs in the launch kit include a Grade 5 titanium bezel, sapphire crystal, a 1.32-inch AMOLED peaking near 3,000 nits, 10 ATM water resistance with recreational diving support to 50 meters, a built-in flashlight with a red night option, and a 660 mAh battery rated up to 25 days of typical use or about 41 hours in Accuracy GPS mode. Outdoor Extreme and Expedition activity modes cut power while keeping GPS track points for multi-day trips.

Navigation tools include full-color preloaded maps with expanded road networks, downloadable contour and ski maps, turn-by-turn and waypoint navigation, a Navigation Gradient Curve elevation profile, and LiveShare location sharing with contacts. Training and recovery insights run through the Zepp App with no subscription required in the launch pitch.

Buyers should treat solar figures as lab-condition estimates. Real recovery depends on sunlight, wrist coverage, and which modes stay active. Shipping timelines may lag order day; check Amazfit and Amazon regional listings for fulfillment windows.
