SEOUL - Domestic sales of Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 rose about 10 percent in the week after Apple Inc. unveiled the iPhone Duo, compared with the prior week, telecommunications industry sources told Yonhap News Agency on Sept. 17.
The increase is believed to have been driven in part by buyers who delayed purchases while waiting for Apple’s first foldable phone and then chose the Fold 8 instead, the sources said. Yonhap attributed the figures to the Korean telecommunications industry. Samsung has not issued an official confirmation of the weekly sales change.

Price is another factor cited in South Korea. The iPhone Duo’s 256-gigabyte model is listed at 3.29 million won (about $2,380), more than 1 million won above the 2.28 million won price of the 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8, a gap of roughly $700 or more at prevailing rates. The Duo’s 2-terabyte configuration is priced at 5.09 million won, Yonhap reported.

That Korea price gap is wider than in the United States, where 256GB models of the two phones differ by about $100, according to the same industry account. Hardware specifications and launch timing also figure into shopper decisions: the Duo is expected to ship later (October in many reports), while the Fold 8 is already on shelves in South Korea.

Samsung showed the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its July 2026 Unpacked event. The Yonhap report does not break out Flip 8 or Fold 8 Ultra weekly sales in the same comparison. Techtember is illustrating this story with credited Samsung press stills of the Z foldable lineup.
