SEOUL - REDMAGIC opened the South Korea phase of its Astra 2 gaming tablet rollout, positioning the 9.06-inch Android slate as the first production tablet with built-in liquid cooling and pairing Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 silicon with a dedicated RedCore R4 chip, according to a company release distributed through PR Newswire.

Retail sales in Korea begin Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. local time on the official REDMAGIC store and Coupang. List prices are 1,249,000 won for the 12GB and 256GB configuration and 1,399,000 won for 16GB and 512GB. A preorder window running Sept. 16 through Sept. 23 on the official store includes 50,000 won off, a free charger, and a Mora keychain, REDMAGIC said.

The Astra 2 uses what REDMAGIC calls AquaCore Cooling System 2.0, combining circulating liquid coolant, Liquid Metal 3.0, and a large vapor chamber. The company says the sealed loop is nonconductive and leak-resistant, and that the design is meant to cut thermal throttling during long gaming sessions. Display specs include a 2.4K OLED panel (2,400 by 1,504) with a 185Hz refresh rate, up to 1,600 nits peak brightness, and a Synaptics touch stack that REDMAGIC rates at a 300Hz average sampling rate.

Power comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 plus REDMAGIC’s RedCore R4 gaming chip. Software is REDMAGIC OS 11.5 based on Android 16. An 8,300mAh dual-cell battery supports up to 75W charging on one USB-C port and up to 40W on a second port, with two-way reverse charging, the company said.

REDMAGIC framed the Korea launch as part of a wider global rollout after earlier Astra 2 debuts. Global and Korean storefronts are listed at global.redmagic.gg and kr.redmagic.gg. Availability outside Korea was not detailed in the Korea pricing note.
