OnePlus Teases OnePlus 16 With System-Wide 165Hz and ColorOS 17 First

OnePlus confirmed the China 16 will ship ColorOS 17 first and run system-wide 165Hz. A 3C listing for model PYB110 points to 100W charging. Launch expected in October.

SHENZHEN - OnePlus officially teased the OnePlus 16 on Weibo on Wednesday, confirming that the China flagship will be the first handset to ship Android 17-based ColorOS 17 and will support a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate, according to the company’s posts and Sept. 17 coverage from GSMArena, Gizmochina, and Mashable.

In its Weibo teaser, OnePlus said the OnePlus 16 will debut with ColorOS 17 and what it calls “全局 165Hz” (global or system-wide 165Hz ultra-high refresh), framing smoothness as a constant experience rather than a gaming-only mode. OnePlus China president Li Jie echoed the same two points in a parallel Weibo post, saying ColorOS 17 had been formally released and that the OnePlus 16 would be first to carry it with system-wide 165Hz.

OnePlus has not announced a firm launch date. Secondary reports, including GSMArena and Mashable, say the China unveiling is expected in October. Gizmochina noted that earlier OnePlus 15 high-refresh support was narrower outside selected apps and games, and that tipsters have shown a ColorOS-style settings screen with an explicit 165Hz high-refresh option for the next flagship. That settings UI is a tipster leak republished by Gizmochina, not an official OnePlus press still.

A device believed to be the OnePlus 16 also appeared on China’s 3C certification site. The listing, for OPPO Guangdong Mobile Telecommunications Corp. model PYB110 with an issue date of Sept. 16, 2026, points to wired charging support of up to 100W, GSMArena reported. OnePlus has not itself confirmed the charging figure in the Weibo teaser.

Other hardware details remain rumor or leak territory and should not be read as confirmed by OnePlus. Coverage circulating alongside the teaser cites tipsters pointing to a Snapdragon 8 Elite-class chipset, a battery near 9,000mAh, and a 200-megapixel primary camera. Separate leaks have also floated higher peak panel rates (including 185Hz in some games). Until OnePlus publishes a full spec sheet, those items stay labeled as rumor.

The teaser lands the same day Oppo detailed ColorOS 17 more broadly. For OnePlus, Wednesday’s message was narrower: ColorOS 17 first, system-wide 165Hz, and a peak-performance flagship arriving soon in China.
