BEIJING - Xiaomi’s Redmi brand has put the Redmi Band 4 on sale in China for 169 yuan, or about $25, giving its entry-level fitness tracker a sturdier-looking design and a longer battery rating. The band went on sale on Oct. 20 in black and silver, IT Home reported.

The Band 4 uses a 1.47-inch display under 2.5D curved glass with a 60Hz refresh rate. It is a TFT panel rather than AMOLED, at 172 by 320 pixels and 450 nits of peak brightness, according to Notebookcheck. Redmi wraps it in a unibody design with a metal-textured frame, and Gizmochina noted a new vertical texture on the strap and an updated pin-style clasp meant to hold it in place during workouts.
Battery life is the headline. Redmi rates the band for up to 21 days on a charge, three days more than the 18 days quoted for the Redmi Band 3. With regular health monitoring switched on, the company’s figure drops to eight days. Those are Xiaomi’s numbers, not independent tests.

The feature list covers the basics of a budget tracker: heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep tracking, all-day stress monitoring and women’s health tracking, plus 50 sports modes and 5ATM water resistance. It shows phone notifications, sets alarms and supports more than 100 watch faces, Notebookcheck said. In China it can also display WeChat and Alipay payment QR codes.
One feature appears to be missing. The Redmi Band 3 offered NFC for offline payments in China, but Gizmochina said it found no mention of NFC on the new band. Redmi has not addressed it in its launch materials.

The price has crept up. The first Redmi Band cost 99 yuan in 2020, and the Band 3 launched at 159 yuan, according to Gizmochina. Xiaomi has not announced a global release, though Notebookcheck expects the band to reach other markets. The launch comes days before Redmi’s bigger event: the K100 phone with a 10,000mAh battery is due later this month.
