Redmi K100 Gets an Oct. 27 Launch Date and a 10,000mAh Battery, the Largest in Any Xiaomi Phone
Xiaomi's gaming-focused Redmi has confirmed the battery, 100W charging, a 6.83-inch 165Hz screen and Snapdragon 8 Elite for the standard K100. Price is still unannounced.

BEIJING - Redmi will launch the K100 in China on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. local time, and on Tuesday the Xiaomi sub-brand confirmed the headline spec: a 10,000mAh battery, the largest Xiaomi has put in a phone. The standard K100 joins the K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, which Redmi unveiled in August.

The cell uses Xiaomi’s Jinshajiang battery technology, with 28 percent silicon-carbon content and an energy density of 957Wh/L. Redmi’s poster rates it for 1,600 charge cycles and says it keeps delivering steady performance at temperatures as low as -20 C. Xiaomi president Lu Weibing shared endurance claims of more than 29 hours of short-video playback, more than 24 hours of live streaming and more than 47 hours of music, Gizmochina reported. Those are company figures, not independent tests.

Charging tops out at 100W over a cable, and the phone can push 27W to other devices through reverse wired charging. A bypass mode powers the phone directly during games to cut heat, according to Redmi’s teaser.
Performance is aimed at mobile gamers. The K100 pairs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite with Redmi’s own D2 display chip. Redmi says more than 40 games run natively at 165 frames per second and more than 100 support frame interpolation.

The screen is a flat 6.83-inch panel that refreshes at up to 165Hz, with 3,500 nits peak brightness, a 480Hz multi-finger touch reporting rate and a 3,500Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. That settles earlier conflicting leaks, which had pointed to a 6.9-inch, 185Hz display, Gizmochina noted. The phone ships with HyperOS 4, has a metal frame, Bose-tuned stereo speakers and a horizontal dual-camera module, and debuts in a new Firefly Green color, Gadgets 360 reported.

Redmi will also introduce the Clip Neo open-ear earphones at the event. It has not announced pricing, camera specifications or any launch outside China. Gadgets 360, citing an earlier report, said the phone could start at about 3,500 yuan, a figure Redmi has not confirmed. The K100 arrives in a crowded week for Chinese gaming phones: iQOO’s Neo12, with a built-in cooling fan, launches the next day, Oct. 28.
