The foldable took the keynote. The laptop will take the carts. Apple’s M5 MacBook Air is the machine that still looks like last year’s Air, which is the point. People who will not spend $1,999 on a passport-shaped phone will spend less than that on a computer they already know how to close.
Battery life is the claim that matters. Not a new hinge. Not a new shape. A day of writing, a flight, and enough charge left to open the lid at the gate. That is the product Apple can still sell without a speech about agents.
Windows machines will answer with Snapdragon and Copilot keys. They have to. The Air does not have to explain itself. It only has to stay light.
