Preorders for iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max opened at 5 a.m. Eastern on Saturday. The phones themselves arrive September 18. They are the models Apple expects to sell by the million while the Duo remains a conversation piece until late October.
The Pro starts at $1,199, the Pro Max at $1,299 — $100 above last year’s openers. Apple is talking about the A20 Pro chip, a claimed 36 hours of battery on the Pro and 45 hours of video on the Max, and colors: Black, Glacier, Burgundy, and the return of Silver.
The more interesting computer in the keynote was not a phone. Siri Recaps on Apple Watch Series 12 will listen through the day and summarize what you heard. That feature will have a longer life in policy hearings than the Burgundy finish will have in unboxings.
If you want the foldable, you wait. Duo preorders begin October 16. Everyone else gets a faster chip, a longer battery, and a receipt that is rounder than last year’s.
