iPhone 18 Pro Panic Full Reboots Spread After Face ID and Wallet Use

Owners in South Korea and U.S. forums report sudden shutoffs and panic-full analytics logs two days after iPhone 18 Pro went on sale.

SEOUL - Two days after Apple began selling the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, owners in South Korea and abroad are reporting sudden shutoffs and automatic restarts that leave “panic-full” analytics logs on the device, according to coverage by The Asia Business Daily and matching posts in U.S. iPhone forums.

The phones went on sale Sept. 18, 2026. By Sept. 20, Korean user communities and overseas forums were filling with accounts of devices that appeared to work normally, then halted or powered off and rebooted on their own. Owners who open Settings, then Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, and Analytics Data sometimes find log files whose names begin with “panic-full,” the term that has stuck to the complaints.

Many of the Korean reports cluster around Face ID authentication. Users say the reboots appear while unlocking financial apps or the Photos app, and some claim they can reproduce the failure by covering the Face ID sensors and retrying authentication several times. Other owners say the same sudden restart hit during initial setup or while using ordinary apps.

IT YouTuber Jooyeon ZUYONI said she reproduced the symptoms on her own iPhone 18 Pro while checking the user reports, Asia Business Daily reported.

Similar accounts have appeared in the United States. In a Reddit community dedicated to the iPhone 18 Pro, one Pro Max owner wrote that the phone forced four reboots in less than 24 hours after purchase. Three of those restarts, the user said, happened during Face ID use, and one struck while launching Apple Wallet. Resetting Face ID seemed to help briefly, the post said, before a Wallet launch triggered another reboot the next day. Commenters under the thread reported comparable symptoms on Pro and Pro Max units.

Early reboot complaints are not unique to this generation. Some owners of the iPhone 16 series, released in 2024, reported unexpected shutoffs and restarts on Pro models. Apple later addressed unexpected reboot issues for some of those phones through the iOS 18.1 update.

As of Asiae coverage on Sept. 20, Apple had not issued an official statement on the iPhone 18 Pro reports. The company has not confirmed a software cause, a hardware defect, or a forthcoming fix. Owners who see panic-full logs and repeated restarts during Face ID or Wallet use are left waiting for guidance from Cupertino.
