HANGZHOU, China - Honor launched the Win 2 gaming phone at an event in Hangzhou on Wednesday afternoon local time, putting two cooling fans, a 10,100mAh battery and Qualcomm’s newest flagship chip into a phone that starts at 5,499 yuan, or about $823. With China’s national consumer subsidy and launch discounts, Honor’s own price sheet brings the entry model down to 4,999 yuan. The Win 2 and a cheaper sibling, the Win RT2, went on sale the same day.

The Win 2 is one of the first phones with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a 2-nanometer chip that Honor says runs at up to 5.01GHz. It pairs the processor with LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage, and Honor quoted an AnTuTu score of 5,702,964 from its own lab. That is a company benchmark, not an independent test.

Cooling is the selling point. Honor’s Dongfeng twin-turbine system uses two fans with a combined airflow of 1.19 cubic feet per minute, and the company claims 150 percent better heat dissipation than before. Honor says redesigned fan blades cut fan noise by 9 decibels at the same airflow, and that in its testing a popular mobile game held a steady frame rate at 2K and 185Hz from a full charge until the phone shut down.

The screen is a 6.89-inch OLED panel at 2K resolution with a 185Hz refresh rate, driven by Honor’s own Win Display chip. Honor lists 5,920Hz PWM dimming across every refresh rate and a 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. The battery is 10,100mAh, with 100W wired charging, 80W wireless charging and a USB 3.2 port. The phone is rated IP68, IP69 and IP69K for dust and water.

The rear camera is led by a 200-megapixel main sensor measuring 1/1.4 inch with optical and electronic stabilization, which Honor says supports 4x lossless zoom. A 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 50-megapixel selfie camera round out the setup, according to Android Authority and FoneArena. The phone also adds a programmable Win key for game shortcuts, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, dual speakers and MagicOS 11.

Honor’s price sheet lists the Win 2 at 5,499 yuan for 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, 5,799 yuan for 16GB/256GB, 6,299 yuan for 12GB/512GB, 6,999 yuan for 16GB/512GB and 7,999 yuan for 16GB with 1TB. After subsidies and launch offers the same models sell for 4,999, 5,299, 5,499, 6,199 and 7,199 yuan. The 12GB/512GB figure matches the 5,499 yuan take-home price Honor disclosed last week.

The Win RT2 keeps a cooling fan, which Honor says is the same large fan used in the Win 2, and the same screen. It steps down to the previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and carries a bigger 12,070mAh battery. Its list prices run from 4,499 to 5,499 yuan, falling to 3,149 yuan after subsidy for the base model. A third model, the Win Turbo2, which FoneArena lists without a fan, uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and a 12,070mAh battery. It goes on sale on Oct. 30 from 2,251.65 yuan after subsidy.

Honor also showed an 8.4-inch Win Tablet with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 240Hz OLED screen and its own fan cooling, plus Win earbuds rated for 40-millisecond latency and 55dB noise cancellation. It did not list tablet prices in its launch release. A Delta Force esports edition of the Win 2 opens for online reservations on Oct. 30 and arrives in November. The Win series has so far been sold only in China, and Honor has not announced an international release.
