FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Bose introduced two open-ear earbuds on Sept. 17, the Sport Open Earbuds at $199 and the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) at $299, with preorders opening Sept. 19 and availability set for Oct. 1, according to the company’s pressroom.
Both models use Bose OpenAudio technology, which the company says delivers private sound through the air near the ear rather than bone conduction. Neither pair includes active noise cancellation. Bose says the open design is meant to keep wearers aware of traffic, announcements, and conversation.

The Sport Open Earbuds target running and workouts with a C-arm cuff, soft silicone finish, textured physical buttons, and an IP54 rating for sweat, splash, and dust. Bose rates playback at up to seven hours on a charge, with up to 22 additional hours in the wireless charging case. Colors include Black, White Smoke, and limited-edition Eucalyptus Green.

The Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) keep the cuff silhouette of the original and add a redesigned driver, SpeechClarity call processing, Auto Volume, and Cinema Mode via Bose TrueSpatial. Battery life rises to up to nine hours of playback, with up to 19.5 hours more in a case that now supports wireless charging. Limited finishes include Cherry Chocolate, Olive Green, and Sky Pink alongside Black and White Smoke.
