CHENGDU, China - Xgimi has put a brighter version of its RS30 Pro 4K laser projector on sale in China. The RS30 Pro High Brightness Edition is listed on JD.com at 7,299 yuan, about $1,092, and falls to 6,569.10 yuan in some regions after national subsidies, IT Home reported on Sunday.

Brightness is the whole point of the new model. Xgimi rates it at 4,500 CVIA lumens, or 5,100 ISO lumens. The standard RS30 Pro, which arrived in April as the entry model in the RS30 series, was rated at up to 3,600 ISO lumens, Notebookcheck reported at the time. The projector uses a 0.47-inch DMD chip with DLP technology to produce a 4K image, and a variable aperture that runs from F/2.0 to F/5.0. Gizmochina reported that the iris adjusts to the room’s lighting and to what is on screen.

Xgimi lists a native contrast ratio of 4,000:1 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 60,000:1, with coverage of 98 percent of the BT.2020 color gamut. According to Gizmochina, the light source is Xgimi’s QuaLas42 laser system with 26 laser chips, and the projector supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR Vivid and carries IMAX Enhanced certification.

Setup is meant to be quick. The projector sits on a built-in gimbal stand that turns 360 degrees horizontally and tilts 135 degrees, Gizmochina said, with 1.2 to 1.5 times optical zoom, horizontal and vertical lens shift, and Xgimi’s Eagle-Eye 5.0 system for automatic focus, keystone correction, screen alignment and obstacle avoidance.

Inside is a MediaTek MT9681 chip. Gizmochina reported 3GB of memory, 64GB of storage and two HDMI 2.1 ports, one with eARC, plus USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. Gamers get 4K at 120Hz with variable refresh rate, auto low latency mode and AMD FreeSync Premium. Sound comes from two 12-watt Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby and DTS support, and wireless connections are Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The unit measures 298 by 249 by 190 millimeters and weighs 4.9 kilograms, and Gizmochina said it runs at 28 decibels or less.

The RS30 range is the China counterpart of Xgimi’s Horizon 30 series, which Gizmochina noted Xgimi launched recently. The High Brightness Edition listing covers China only for now, and there is no word yet on an international version.
