New Withings Accounts Must Pay About $99 a Year to Sync With Apple Health

Automatic export to Apple Health and other partner apps now sits behind Withings+ for accounts created on or after Oct. 13. Older accounts keep free sync.

BOSTON - Withings is charging new customers for a feature many owners treated as part of the hardware. Accounts created on or after Oct. 13, 2026, need a Withings+ subscription to keep automatic sync running to Apple Health, Google Health Connect and most other partner apps.

MacRumors and The Verge report U.S. pricing of $99.50 a year, or $9.95 a month, with a one-month free trial that includes third-party sync. When the trial ends, automatic sync pauses. Data already stored in Apple Health is not deleted. Accounts created on or before Oct. 12 keep free automatic export, including when those customers register a new scale or watch later.

Withings’ own support FAQ ties the change to an API and privacy update for a Withings AI Connector that is rolling out through the rest of October. The company says customers can still download or share a PDF of their data without paying. Strava is listed as an exception among partner apps in that FAQ. Markus From Withings has also replied in a community thread titled “Unacceptable: Apple Health Sync is now behind a $99/year paywall for new accounts,” restating that the cutoff follows the account creation date.

The company markets Withings+ as an in-app premium layer with coaching programs and, for subscribers, access to the AI Connector. Hardware prices have not dropped to offset the subscription. A Body Scan scale or BeamO still ships as a full retail purchase; new buyers who want the data in Apple Health now budget for the yearly fee as well.

Health wearables are already a crowded shelf. Techtember recently covered Google’s Pixel Watch Health Guardian rollout, another reminder that phone and watch ecosystems fight over where vitals live. Withings’ split between grandfathered and new accounts puts that fight on the scale maker’s own pricing page.
