SAN MATEO, Calif. - Sony Interactive Entertainment is reviving one of the most recognizable looks in gaming hardware. The company has introduced the Prism Collection, a set of transparent DualSense wireless controllers and matching PlayStation 5 console covers in three colors: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray. The controllers cost $84.99 in the United States, 74.99 pounds in Britain and 84.99 euros in Europe, according to the announcement on the PlayStation Blog.
Preorders open on Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. local time, directly from PlayStation where it sells hardware and at participating retailers. The collection launches starting Feb. 4, 2027, though Sony said exact dates and availability may vary by country.

Sony said the collection grew out of its design teams’ interest in giving the PS5 a transparent look and letting players see the craftsmanship inside the controller. Each color carries a glossy finish. On the controller, a high-gloss clear shell runs across the back and exposes the components underneath, while the middle cover gets a metallic finish meant to tie the surfaces together.
“We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers,” Leo Cardoso of Sony’s Color, Material, and Finish design team wrote in the post. “We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.”

His colleague Satoshi Aoyagi described how the three colors were chosen: a vibrant orange that “subtly takes on a rosy hue where the transparent material overlaps,” a deep hunter green that gains depth through its transparency, and a cool-toned storm gray.
