BEIJING - Poco, the online-focused phone brand owned by Xiaomi, has launched the X8s in global markets, a compact phone that pairs a 6.35-inch screen with a 6,330mAh battery and a dedicated telephoto camera. The 8GB model with 256GB of storage has an early bird price of $399, and the 12GB and 512GB version is $499, GSMArena reported.
“The new POCO X8s is here! Meet your compact all-arounder,” the company said in a post on X on Sunday, adding that it was “available now.”

Size is the pitch. According to Poco’s product page, the phone is 151.1 millimeters tall, 71.8 millimeters wide and 8.06 millimeters thick, and weighs 187 grams. The 2,656 by 1,220 AMOLED display has 1.18-millimeter bezels, a refresh rate that adjusts from 1Hz to 120Hz, and a rated peak of 3,500 nits. Poco says it is the brand’s first LTPO display, the technology that lets the screen slow its refresh rate to save power.
The battery uses silicon-carbon chemistry with 16 percent silicon content, which is how Poco fits 6,330mAh into a body that size. The company says the cell keeps at least 80 percent of its health after 1,600 charge cycles in its lab tests. It charges at up to 100 watts with a compatible adapter and can charge other devices at 22.5 watts over the cable.

The camera setup is the other selling point. The main camera uses a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 sensor with optical stabilization, alongside a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with a 57mm equivalent focal length and an 8-megapixel ultrawide. Poco’s site lists 2.5x optical zoom for the telephoto. There is a 20-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, built on a 4-nanometer process, with a cooling system Poco calls 3D IceLoop. One place it saves money is memory: the spec sheet lists LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, older and slower standards than many rivals at the same price. It has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, NFC, an infrared blaster, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, and runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 on Android 16.

The X8s is rated IP68, and Poco says the box includes a charger and a protective case, though the adapter can vary by market. It comes in Blue, Black and White. Poco has not said what the phone will cost once the early bird offer ends.
