OnePlus Buds Pro 4 Surface on OnePlus's Own Website, With a Planar Tweeter and Twice the Noise Canceling

The new flagship earbuds pair a Dynaudio-tuned woofer with a planar tweeter and promise up to 53 hours of listening, but OnePlus has not said what they cost or where they will be sold.

SHENZHEN, China - OnePlus has put its next flagship earbuds on display before saying a word about them. A full product page for the OnePlus Buds Pro 4 is now live on the company’s global website, laying out the hardware, the battery figures and two colors, Titanium Shadow and Polar White. What the page leaves out is the price, the release date and the list of countries, details OnePlus had not announced as of Saturday, Gizmochina reported.

The headline change is inside each earbud. OnePlus says the Buds Pro 4 use a dual-driver system co-engineered with the Danish speaker maker Dynaudio: an 11mm composite woofer for bass and a 6mm planar tweeter for treble, each driven by its own digital-to-analog converter. Planar drivers are more common in high-end headphones than in earbuds. OnePlus claims 50 percent more bass driving force than the Buds Pro 3.

Noise canceling gets a large claimed upgrade. OnePlus says the new earbuds remove up to twice as much unwanted noise as the Buds Pro 3, and up to 2.5 times as much of the chatter in the human voice range, the kind of sound earbuds usually struggle to block. An adaptive mode reads the surrounding noise in real time and adjusts the level on its own. For calls, three microphones work with a bone-conduction voice sensor that picks up the wearer’s speech through the jaw.

Listeners who care about wireless audio quality get the LHDC 5.0 codec, which OnePlus rates at up to 1 Mbps and 24-bit, 192 kHz audio, along with spatial audio with head tracking and a Golden Sound profile tuned to each user’s ears. The codec matters only with a phone that supports it, and iPhones do not.

Battery life is where the 53-hour figure on the page needs a closer look. That number assumes the charging case, noise canceling switched off and the AAC codec. With noise canceling on, OnePlus lists 26 hours with the case, or 22 hours over LHDC. The earbuds alone run up to 13 hours with noise canceling off and about six with it on. A 10-minute charge adds up to 14 hours of listening when the case is included, and the case charges wirelessly or from the back of a compatible OnePlus phone.

The software list is long. The earbuds can call up Google’s Gemini by voice, record audio from both earbuds at once with Dolby processing, connect to two devices at the same time and drop game audio latency to 39 milliseconds with select OnePlus phones. A Neck Health feature watches head tilt and nudges the wearer to sit up straight.

Some features come with conditions spelled out in the fine print. AI Live Translation works only on OnePlus devices running ColorOS 17.0 or later, relies on cloud processing and is capped at 5,000 minutes a month. Owners of other Android phones and iPhones need OnePlus’s HeyMelody app for features such as Golden Sound and spatial audio.

The previous model, the Buds Pro 3, went on sale in the United States in August 2024 for $179.99. Whether the Buds Pro 4 hold near that price will decide much of their appeal, since the spec sheet already reads like a direct challenge to Sony, Samsung and Apple at the top of the earbud market. For now, OnePlus has shown the product and left buyers to wait for the number.
