Apple's EU Label Puts the iPhone Duo Battery at 4,883 mAh

A European product sheet filed days before launch gives Apple's first foldable a rated capacity between the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, plus a C for repairability.

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Apple never prints battery capacities on its spec pages, but European rules made it name one for the iPhone Duo. The product information sheet for model A3720, published in the EU’s energy labeling database before the foldable goes on sale on Oct. 23, lists a rated battery capacity of 4,883 mAh.

MacRumors, which reported the filing on Sunday, said the figure matches an earlier leak showing two cells of 2,962 mAh and 1,921 mAh. Because the Duo is sold only with eSIM in every country, there is no SIM-tray model with a smaller battery, so the number should hold worldwide.

That puts the Duo between Apple’s two newest slab phones. According to iFixit teardowns cited by MacRumors, the iPhone 18 Pro carries a 4,288 mAh battery and the iPhone 18 Pro Max a 5,567 mAh pack. The Verge noted that rated capacities run lower than the typical figures Android makers advertise, which makes the Duo’s cell larger than the ones in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, though still smaller than those in recent Oppo and Honor foldables.

The same sheet fills in the durability picture. It lists battery endurance of 51 hours and 30 minutes per charge under the EU’s standardized test, at least 1,000 charge cycles before capacity falls to 80 percent, and energy efficiency class A. The battery is not user-replaceable. In Apple’s drop testing the Duo survived at least 140 falls without a defect, and 35 with the phone fully opened, for a drop class of B, and carries an IP68 rating for immersion to 6 meters.

Repair is the weakest line. Apple’s filing gives the Duo repairability class C, with an index of 2.65 out of 5, held back by low scores for fasteners and tools even though it earns full marks for spare parts and repair information. Out of warranty, Apple charges $229 for Duo battery service without AppleCare+, MacRumors reported last week.

Apple’s own battery claims remain the ones it made at launch: up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display and up to 31 hours on the larger inner screen, Gadgets 360 reported. Early owners will start testing those claims this week, after the Duo opened for pre-orders on Oct. 16 at $1,999 for 256GB.
