Meta released the tvOS app on Oct. 23. It needs tvOS 26 and follows versions for Fire TV, Google TV and Samsung televisions as Instagram pushes deeper into the living room.

MENLO PARK, Calif. - Instagram is now on Apple TV. Meta has released an Instagram app for Apple’s streaming box, and its App Store listing shows version 66.0 arriving on Oct. 23, MacRumors reported on Saturday. An archived version of the listing from Oct. 19 still showed the app as compatible only with the iPhone and iPad. The new app requires tvOS 26.0 or later.

The listing pitches the app as more than a Reels player. “Enjoy Reels, watch longer videos with friends, catch live shows, and discover something new, all from your TV,” it reads, and it promises that viewers can pick up where they left off across screens. That matches the direction Meta set out in June, when it said it was exploring longer creator videos, episodic series and live broadcasts for the television, along with casting Reels from a phone and a dedicated home for horizontal video, in a Meta Newsroom post.

Apple’s box joins a growing list. Instagram first tested a television app on Amazon Fire TV devices in the United States in December 2025, organizing Reels into channels based on a viewer’s interests and playing them automatically with sound. It reached Google TV in February and Samsung smart TVs in June, when Meta said the app was available across the majority of connected TV devices in the United States.

The Apple TV release puts Meta’s short video next to the streaming apps on Apple’s box, and it follows Instagram’s long-awaited iPad app, which arrived in September 2025.
