TOKYO - Huawei Japan put the FreeClip 2 S on general sale on Friday, Oct. 16, at a tax-included market price of ¥32,780, ending a Makuake crowdfunding run that raised ¥101.6 million from 3,970 backers. The open-ear, ear-cuff flagship ships in Deep Sea Blue and Pearl Silver through Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera, e☆イヤホン and Huawei’s own online stores.
Huawei’s PR Times release and Japan product page pitch the model as the company’s first FreeClip flagship, with a charging case finished through more than 100 manufacturing steps to look like a jewelry box. Each bud weighs about 5.1 grams. The C-bridge uses shape-memory alloy wrapped in liquid silicone that Huawei says is about 25 percent softer than the original FreeClip, and the company cites a 25,000-open bend test.

Audio hardware includes Huawei’s dual-diaphragm dynamic driver, an onboard NPU for audio and call processing, 360-degree spatial audio with head tracking, reverse-wave leak control, and triple-mic call noise reduction with a bone-conduction VPU mic. Battery claims are up to about 9 hours per charge and up to 38 hours with the case, plus about three hours of playback after a 10-minute top-up. The buds are rated IP57; the case is IP54.

The FreeClip 2 S, FreeClip 2 and original FreeClip all won Japan’s Good Design Award this year, a clean sweep Huawei highlighted in the launch release. Software support runs through the HUAWEI Audio Connect app on iOS and Android, including multipoint for two devices, a 10-band EQ and find-my-bud tones. Gesture controls cover volume, tracks, calls and a long-press launch of the phone’s AI assistant.

Huawei’s Japan PR account has been pushing artist MIYAVI campaign clips around the launch week. Techtember previously covered Huawei’s FreeBuds Neo China sale; FreeClip 2 S is the open-ear, fashion-led branch of that audio push rather than a stem-bud follow-on.
