Florida filed a lawsuit against Netflix seeking billions in damages, according to court papers described this week. The complaint tries to pull a streaming company into the same legal weather that has surrounded social platforms since 2023.
Netflix will argue it is television with a catalog. Florida will argue it is a product with a recommendation engine and a minor audience. Judges have been willing to hear that theory. They have not been willing, yet, to write the check.
