BEIJING - Did you know that Xiaomi’s new 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max put a full OLED panel on the back of the phone, not just a status strip? At the China launch on Sept. 23, 2026, the 18 Pro ships a 2.7-inch rear OLED and the Pro Max a 2.9-inch panel. Both secondary screens are rated for up to 120Hz refresh and about 4,000 nits peak brightness, matching the brightness class Xiaomi lists for the front displays. GSMArena, Gizmochina, and IntoMobile all treat those rear sizes and brightness claims as launch-day specs, not rumor.

Xiaomi frames the back panel as an AI Versatile Back Screen powered by its MiMo model and Super XiaoAI. Launch coverage says the rear UI ships with more than 100 app cards, covering notifications, quick controls, mini-games, AI-generated custom cards, and a camera viewfinder for the triple rear array. GSMArena also notes XiaoAI can help users build their own rear-screen mini apps, with on-stage examples such as a water reminder, an egg timer, and a recipe helper.

The phones are not only a display story. The 18 Pro takes Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6; the Pro Max takes Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both keep Leica-tuned dual 200MP shooters plus a 50MP ultrawide, HyperOS 4, and hardware-level front privacy panels. China openers are 5,999 yuan for the 18 Pro and 6,999 yuan for the Pro Max in 12GB/256GB configs, with a global launch later in 2026.
